HEADLAND HIGH SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT NEW TARDY POLICY – EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 15, 2007 Arriving to school and to each class on time is vital to the success of students. It is training them for the world they will enter following their educational years. Tardiness is not tolerated in the workforce or for appointments. All tardies carry consequences! Beginning with our second trimester we will implement the following procedures to motivate students to be on time for school and for class. On the day of the fourth tardy to school or class, the teacher will write a discipline referral listing the dates of each tardy. The discipline referral will be turned in to the office that same day. DISCIPLINE CONSEQUENCES FOR TARDY REFERRALS 4th Tardy – Detention after school from 3:15 until 4:00. Students will report to Coach Davis in the alternative school building no later than 3:15 on their assigned day. Students are to bring books, reading material, paper and pencil. Students will not be allowed to talk, eat, or drink during the detention time. Sleeping is also prohibited. Failure to report and follow rules will result in assignment of additional days of alternative education or out of school suspension. 5th Tardy – After school detention; same as above 6th Tardy and beyond – Treated as defiance of authority. Level 2 offense. NOTE: Failure to attend detention or alternative school will also result in the loss of privileges such as participation in extra-curricular activities, parking on campus, field trips, etc. |
