"Promoting Excellence in Academics"

Try-Outs for the 2008 - 2009 Academic Team will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22 & 23 from 3:15 to 4:30. If you are interested, go by the library and get an application packet from Mrs. Smothers. The application packet must be returned no later than 3:15 pm on Wednesday, April 16th. Advantages of the team included an opportunity to travel and meet new people and scholarships from various schools based on leadership and academics. There are 6 places open.

The Academic Team travels to competitions all over Alabama to compete against other teams in the following subject areas:  history, geography, fine arts, literature, and science.

The competitions are composed of questions from any of the above areas that must be answered correctly before the other team can answer. A buzzer system is used to determine which player from the two teams has the first chance to answer each question.

In order to perform well, the team must study and read extensively in the above areas.

The Academic Team practices after school in order to perfect their skills. The team scores improve year after year.

Envirobowl:  First Place in Dothan Region  - Will attend the State Championship to compete with top 15 teams in state on April 18th in Birmingham at the Botanical Gardens.
